National Training Workshop on the use of HOMER software - Kumasi, Ghana

The Energy Center (TEC), KNUST and the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) are organising a two-day training on the use of HOMER software for RE project design, from 13 to 14 August in Kumasi, Ghana.

ECOWAS Regional Workshops on the Development of National Cooking Energy Action Plans & Capacity Building on Biochar

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE), with the support of the Ministry of Energy of The Gambia, and in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the Austrian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management, the EU Energy Facility – Science and Technology II, the University of Udine, Italy, and the Governments of Austria and Spain held the ECOWAS Regional Workshops on the Development of National Cooking Energy Action Plans and Capacity Building on Biochar from 11 – 13 August 2014 in Banjul, The Gambia.

Organized under the framework of the West African Clean Cooking Alliance (WACCA) and the Biochar Plus Project with the university of Udine respectively, the workshop brought together about 80 participants from the ECOWAS region, WACCA partners, project staff from the University of Udine, the international community and participants from the Gambian ministries of energy, forestry and the environment; private sector; standards bodies; and civil society organizations.

Regional Training Workshop on Geographical Information System for Energy Planning

ECREEE in collaboration with the University of Geneva, the Energy Centre, KNUST, the Ministry of Energy Cabo Verde, and Noveltis S. A. S., jointly organized a Regional Training Workshop on Geographical Information System for Energy planning, from 11 to 12 of August 2014, in Dakar, Senegal. The workshop is funded by the European Union under the ACP-EU Science and Technology programme. It brought together experts from the Rural Electrification Agencies and the departments of energy planning, statistics and data collection, from the ECOWAS Region.

Objectives of the workshop

The main objective of this workshop was to strengthen capacity within the member States, on how to collect data and the relevant metadata in the context of GIS, for supporting energy access.

National Training Workshop on the use of HOMER software - Banjul, The Gambia

The National Water and Electricity Company of The Gambia (NAWEC) and the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) are organising a 2-day training on the use of HOMER software for RE project design, from 17 to 18 June in Banjul, The Gambia.

The training will use theoretical concepts, simulations and practical exercises about existing and planned projects in order to prepare the participants in the use of HOMER.

Workshop for the development of the ECOWAS Program on Solar Thermal Energy Training and Demonstration

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency - ECREEE, organized a program definition workshop on the development of an ECOWAS   Solar Thermal Energy capacity building and Demonstration Program  on 13th and 14th of June, in Praia, Cabo Verde.

This Workshop was organized within the framework of ECREEE activities aimed at introducing renewable and sustainable resourcesin the ECOWAS region. The workshop provided informed participants about  potential and the existing needs of different solar thermal technologies in the ECOWAS region and aimed to strengthen the capacity of national actors in all 15 ECOWAS Member States, to design and implement solar thermal systems.

Regional Workshop and Training on Energy Efficiency in Buildings - Praia, Cabo Verde

The ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in collaboration with the European Union, the Government of Cabo Verde, Agence de l'Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l'Energie (ADEME) and Institut de la Francophonie pour le développement durable (IDFF), organized a training workshop on Energy Efficiency in Builldings, in Praia, Cabo Verde from the 9th to 13th of June 2014.
